01 Age & education

Your age

Use your age on the date IRCC receives your application.

Highest qualifying education

For education outside Canada, select the Canadian equivalency on your immigration ECA from a designated organization. The ECA must be less than five years old at profile creation and application. Each foreign credential claimed under “two or more” needs an ECA.

02 Official languages

Choose your stronger official language first. Enter all four scores from one approved test sitting. CLB is the English benchmark; NCLC is the French benchmark. FSW requires level 7 in every first-language ability.

03 Skilled work experience

Completed years of qualifying paid work

Count qualifying TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 work during the last 10 years, in Canada or abroad, full-time or the equivalent in part-time. Match the NOC lead statement and most main duties. Count up to 30 hours per week; do not round up partial years or double-count overlapping work.

Paid student work and self-employment can count for FSW if they meet the applicable requirements. Unpaid work and volunteer work do not count. A year means at least 1,560 qualifying hours over at least 12 months; extra weekly hours cannot shorten that period.

Do you have at least one continuous year in your primary occupation?

This must be paid TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 work in the same NOC as your primary occupation, within the last 10 years, without a break. Part-time equivalent is allowed. You must have performed the NOC lead statement and most main duties. The remaining years used for selection points do not all have to be continuous.

04 Arranged employment

A qualifying offer can still earn 10 FSW points and 5 adaptability points. A job offer no longer adds CRS points. An open work permit or an offer letter alone is not enough. If a special policy applies to you, such as the physician job-offer exemption, choose “Not sure” and request a review before claiming points.

Select only the factors you can document. Unchecked factors receive zero points. Combined adaptability points cannot exceed 10.

I completed at least two academic years of full-time study in Canada in a secondary or post-secondary program lasting at least two years, with at least 15 hours of classes weekly and good academic standing. (+5)I completed at least one year of full-time TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 work in Canada with a valid work permit or other authorization to work. (+10)

Will a spouse or common-law partner immigrate with you?

Partner factors apply only to a spouse or common-law partner who will immigrate with you.

I have a qualifying relative who lives in Canada, is at least 18, and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. (+5)

Qualifying relationships: parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, sibling, aunt or uncle by blood or marriage, or niece or nephew. A friend or cousin does not qualify. A non-accompanying partner’s relative is not counted here.

The calculator automatically includes 5 adaptability points if your arranged-employment answer qualifies.

06 Settlement plans

Do you intend to live outside Quebec?

FSW is for people planning to settle outside Quebec. This answer does not add points, but affects the minimum-requirement check.

You must also meet admissibility and settlement-funds requirements. These are not assessed by this points calculator. The funds exemption requires both current authorization to work in Canada and a valid job offer.

FSW 67-point calculator questions

Is 67 FSW points the same as my CRS score?

No. FSW uses six selection factors out of 100 to assess the program’s points requirement. You need at least 67. CRS is a separate score out of 1,200 that ranks eligible Express Entry candidates.

Does reaching 67 points guarantee eligibility or an invitation?

No. You must also meet the FSW minimum work, language and education requirements, plan to settle outside Quebec, satisfy any applicable proof-of-funds requirement and be admissible. An invitation depends on Express Entry selection rounds.

Can a Canadian job offer still add FSW points?

Yes. Qualifying arranged employment can earn 10 selection-factor points and 5 adaptability points, subject to the 10-point adaptability cap. The removal of job-offer CRS points did not remove these FSW points.

Can student work or self-employment count?

Qualifying paid student work and self-employment can count for FSW. You still need the required continuous year in your primary occupation and evidence that the work meets the program’s requirements. Unpaid placements and volunteer work do not count.

Do my partner’s factors count if they are not immigrating with me?

No. The partner language, Canadian study and Canadian work factors apply to a spouse or common-law partner immigrating with you. Your own qualifying factors can still earn adaptability points.

How do I use foreign education or French test results?

Use the Canadian education equivalency on a valid immigration ECA from a designated organization. Enter TEF Canada results from the Équivalence ancien score column, rather than Score / 699. TCF Canada uses its own listening, reading, writing and speaking scales.
