CLB converter questions
What is the difference between CLB and NCLC?
CLB stands for Canadian Language Benchmarks and is used for English. NCLC is the French-language benchmark scale. This tool labels English results CLB and French results NCLC.
Do I use my overall IELTS or PTE score?
No. Enter listening, reading, writing and speaking separately. An overall or average test score does not replace the individual abilities when a program requires a minimum in each one.
Why does the converter show 10+ or Below 4?
This tool uses the equivalency bands in IRCC’s Express Entry tables. The highest band is shown as 10+, without separating levels 10, 11 and 12. A score below the level-4 threshold is shown as Below 4; it does not mean your language ability is zero.
Which TEF Canada scores should I enter?
Use the Équivalence ancien score column as directed by IRCC for Express Entry. Do not enter the Score / 699 column. Listening is out of 360, reading out of 300, and writing and speaking out of 450. Use corrected results if your provider has issued them.
Does this confirm my immigration eligibility?
No. This tool converts language scores only. Program requirements, test validity and your other qualifications must be checked separately. For Express Entry, results must be less than two years old when you create your profile and when you apply for permanent residence.
